Maverick, n (a) to seize or brand (an animal) as maverick; hence to take possession of without any legal claim (b) to stray or wander like a maverick (c) a masterless person.

MS. MAVERICK is an avatar needled by voices, her own and others, real or imagined, that stomp her into a prescribed social position. The piececan be presented either as a single channel video and or an installation.

explores the architecture of power structures at work in the construction of identity be they based in gender, nationality, music, technology or our shared film and TV culture. Caz`s works have been recently presented at Videotage in Hong Kong; Northern Ireland; Slovenia; The Netherlands; Art in General NYC; Edinburgh’s Fringe Film and Video festival; and both Nextframe and Thaw’s international festivals of video and new media. Caz is a 2002-3 recipient of the visual arts research residency at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Kitakyushu, Japan.
