MS. MAVERICK, Caz McIntee, 3:00, 2001 Maverick, n (a) to seize or brand (an animal) as maverick; hence to take possession of without any legal claim (b) to stray or wander like a maverick (c) a masterless person. MS. MAVERICK is an avatar needled by voices, her own and others, real or imagined, that stomp her into a prescribed social position. The piececan be presented either as a single channel video and or an installation.

Caz McIntee <mcinteecaz@hotmail.com> explores the architecture of power structures at work in the construction of identity be they based in gender, nationality, music, technology or our shared film and TV culture. Caz`s works have been recently presented at Videotage in Hong Kong; Northern Ireland; Slovenia; The Netherlands; Art in General NYC; Edinburgh’s Fringe Film and Video festival; and both Nextframe and Thaw’s international festivals of video and new media. Caz is a 2002-3 recipient of the visual arts research residency at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Kitakyushu, Japan.
